Photo of the Week: Louisville

A local movement has sprung up proposing the removal of the elevated portion of Interstate 64 from the Louisville Waterfront. This is a photo I took of the street below it, with the Ohio River on the left and the start of the downtown on the right. When I visited two years ago, it was clear that very little in the central business district had been built to face the river, because the freeway is such a big and unpleasant barrier. Slightly farther east, however, there is a gorgeous waterfront park that takes advantage of river frontage and views across the river to southern Indiana.
